How long to recover from breast augmentation for David Kashan

Breast augmentation, commonly known as a  “boob job,” goes beyond cosmetic enhancement—it’s a deeply personal choice many make in pursuit of feeling more confident and comfortable in their own skin. Whether it’s about bringing balance to your body’s symmetry, reclaiming lost volume due to pregnancy or weight changes, or simply wanting to feel more confident in a swimsuit, this procedure has the power to transform.

Here at Kashan Plastic Surgery, we’re dedicated to understanding your unique desires and ensuring the results meet your expectations, while maintaining a natural, authentic look.

Why Choose Breast Augmentation?
Deciding on breast augmentation can be a pivotal moment in your life. Here are the most common reasons our patients choose breast augmentation:

  • Correct Asymmetry: Many women have naturally uneven breasts – augmentation can help create a more balanced look.
  • Rejuvenation For  Aging Breasts: Breasts can lose their elasticity and volume with age. Augmentation will give them a more youthful appearance.
  • Reconstruction After Mastectomy: For women who have undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer, breast augmentation helps to restore the body’s appearance and contribute to emotional healing.
  • Increase Fullness and Improving Cleavage: Some women simply desire a larger bust or want to restore volume lost due to pregnancy or weight changes.

About the Procedure
There are two potential procedures when considering breast augmentation; breast implants or fat transfer.

  • Breast Implants: Filled with either saline (saltwater) or silicone gel, implants are surgically inserted under the breast tissue or chest muscle to increase breast size, projection, and cleavage.
  • Fat Transfer: This procedure involves removing fat from other areas of your body, such as the hips or abdomen, and carefully injecting it into the breasts for a subtle increase in size and improved shape.  This is ideal for those who only want to go up one cup size,  don’t desire implants, or would like to add a little more volume to their already enhanced breasts.

Dr. Kashan is a skilled plastic surgeon with a refined artistic eye. During your consultation, he will discuss whether breast implants or a fat transfer procedure is the best fit to help you achieve your desired silhouette. Both methods offer their advantages and Dr. Kashan will help you navigate your options.

Recovering from Breast Augmentation
Recovering from breast augmentation surgery is a crucial phase where your body heals and adjusts to the new changes. Understanding what to expect during this period can help you prepare and ensure a smooth, comfortable recovery. Here’s a detailed look at the recovery process:

  • Immediate Post-Op: Right after surgery, expect to spend a few hours under observation as the effects of anesthesia wear off. Initial discomfort, tightness, and grogginess are common.  Dr. Kashan uses a special nerve block medication during the procedure that can provide up to 3 days of pain relief to help make the first days of recovery more pleasant.
  • First Week: Rest is crucial. Avoid strenuous activities and follow instructions for incision care. Wearing a surgical bra is often recommended to support healing and aid with support.
  • Activity Restrictions: For the first 4-6 weeks, refrain from heavy lifting and vigorous exercise. Gentle walks are beneficial, but avoid overexertion.
  • Monitoring and Follow-Up Visits: Attend all scheduled appointments to ensure proper healing and address any concerns with your plastic surgeon.
  • Managing Pain and Swelling: Use prescribed medication for pain management. Swelling is normal, peaking in the first few days and gradually decreasing.
  • Long-Term Recovery: Full recovery and the settling of implants into their final position can take several months, with incision lines fading over time.
